Treatment Approaches

Depending on the type of issue that you wish to address, therapy may include one or more of the following approaches:

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Clinical Hypnosis
Short-term Solution Focused Therapy
Attachment Based/Family Systems Therapy
Stage-based Trauma treatment (psycho-education, stabilization strategies, processing, resolution)
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
Relapse Prevention for mood disorders or substance-related issues

My approach to treatment is to include all aspects of a person’s biological, social and psychological experiences to create an individualized, client centered treatment plan. I provide therapy within a non-judgemental, non-stigmatizing and confidential relationship. This includes people from diverse backgrounds and religious, sexual (LGBTQ) spiritual, or other orientations.

As an experienced medical and clinical social worker, I can work closely with your physician and other practitioners to provide adjunctive support using clinical hypnosis and guided imagery for pre and post surgery, painful or anxiety-provoking medical or dental procedures, chronic pain or chronic health issues, somatic or psychosomatic symptoms.

Education: Masters of Clinical Social Work from the University of Calgary with a minor degree in psychology including Abnormal and Clinical psychology.
Experience: Over 15 years experience working with adults and youth within community non-profit agencies, as well as hospitals, counselling, community mental health and residential addiction treatment facilities.

I hold a current registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers which is an affiliate member of the Canadian Association of Social Workers.  I regularly attend clinical conferences and trainings and subscribe to academic journals that keep my practice skills current. If we determine together that I cannot provide the treatment that you require, I will help to refer you to the appropriate individual or service.
